6th HKBDFI Cup

The BDFI International Director & Hong Kong Ballroom Dancers International (HKBDI) President, Mr Lawrence Chan, has been organising and assisting over 70 days of Ballroom & Latin-American competitions since his first competition on 11th April 1993 (1^st Come Dancing Cup).  The 6^th HKBDFI Cup on 9^th April 2017 was a memorable, special and unique moment for him as it was the first time he organised a competition on his birthday!

100 solo dancers and 84 couples had entered on this day. This was exactly half of the overflowing entries to 18^th Best of Best HK Open DanceSport Championships organized by Lawrence on 25/12/16, alleviating Lawrence’s pressure of timing the events in a smaller venue at Hotel Regal Riverside Ballroom.  He felt blessed and delighted with the spectacle of quality dancing on his special day.

Three best of best Pro-Am couples in Hong Kong – Qing Shui & Angel Kwok, Yu Lan & Amanda Lau, Lau Suk Yee & Chen LingJun, danced a Waltz tune of “Happy Birthday” to create celebration mood and electric atmosphere during the evening dinner party, on top of the three Grand Finals – Open Professional Latin, Open Amateur Latin & Open Professional Standard, and some ceremony of HKBDI.   The 7^th HKBDFI Cup will be held on 1^st April 2018.
